I opened an account with slicehost earlier this year, and I have to say, I am quite impressed with it from an operational standpoint. Basically it's like having your own box. You can install anything you want. If you know the basics of Linux administration you can get started. Basic plan is $20 per month. Customer service is good.

However, I've got lots of serious doubts about all this cloud stuff and so far haven't been able to bring myself to put any critical data out there yet. If you can afford a dedicated box I would look for one unless your data is read-only and public. But that's just my opinion.
