I am not using Groovy + Eclipse on the Mac on a regular basis right now. I am using version 1.5.1.200801280946 of the Groovy Plugin. I set the JRE 1.6 and I can't duplicate the problem with Mac OS 10.5.2 and Eclipse 3.3, so I'm afraid I'm not much help here.

The plugin doesn't have any control over the JVM used when compiling Groovy classes.

Didn't get any interest on the developer list so...

I am developing with Eclipse on MacOS (Leopard.) Eclipse will have nothing
to do with Apple's 64 bit JVM (all that 32 bit Carbon code, I guess) so it's
running on a Java 5 JVM but I have configured it to use Apple's latest Java
1.6 as the JRE because my team is using Java 6.

I've tried the "stable" release of the Eclipse plugin as well the as dev
version (as of a few days ago) and they are both exhibiting this same
problem:

I create a new Java project, add a groovy source folder, create a Groovy
class, and run it via the "Run As Groovy" contextual menu. All's well. Then
I make a change and try running it again only to find that the plugin didn't
recompile it. Annoyed I right click on the file in the Package Explorer and
select "Compile Groovy File" (not sure why this option exists.) In response
I get an error dialog that says:

An internal error occurred during: "Compiling selected Groovy files.".
Bad version number in .class file

Once this occurs Eclipse starts acting horribly flakey. Various menu items
including the "Run As..." menu item won't draw. If I try running the groovy
class through the "Run As" dialog I get a NoClassDefFoundError.

Is the Groovy plugin set to run code using the same JVM as the IDE by any
chance?

I am completely dead in the water at this point. Does anyone have any ideas
about what's happening here or (more importantly) how to resolve it?

Thanks,
Mark
