Hi all,

Fabio and I chatted and discussed our plan to get 2.0.0.GA released.  Here is the gist of it:

1. Over the next few days, I will go over all the open issues in JIRA and put as many open issue as possible on a schedule and into one of the following:
1. 2.0.0.Alpha2
2. 2.0.0.GA
   
3. NEXT.MAJOR
   
2. After I have done that, Fabio will have a look and adjust things as he sees fit (e.g. move something from Alpha2 to GA, etc)
3. After we have a list of issues to attack for Alpha2, you will be invited (particularly all committers) to go on to JIRA and volunteer for the issues that they want to fix and assign them to himself/herself
4. After that, we will do a time-based release every 15 days or so until the release of 2.0.0.GA

We foresee the following releases: Alpha2, Beta1, Beta2, RC1, RC2, then GA.  In other words, if all goes well, we shall be about 3 months away from the 2.0.0.GA release.

The rough criteria for deciding whether something will be considered for inclusion in 2.0 are as follows:

• Bugs with no work-arounds get higher priorities -- likely they will make it into 2.0
  
• Bugs with work-arounds get lower priorities -- may not make it into 2.0
  
• Bugs that depends on a new parser will most likely not make it into 2.0
  
• New features and improvement will not make it into 2.0 -- we are focusing on stabilization for 2.0

There are always exceptions, but the above are the general rules that we will follow.

I hope this gives you a little window into how we are getting to 2.0.0.GA.  We welcome any feedback you may have.
