On Ayende's suggestion I've written about my recent contributions to NHibernate (adding HAVING support to Criteria Queries) and how to successfully contribute to the NHibernate project.
If you're considering contributing code, or are finding that you need a feature that isn't in the codebase hopefully this article will encourage you to implement it yourself.
A few months ago I hadn't even heard of NHibernate, and I only downloaded the source back in February. I say this as contributing to the project isn't that difficult even for those who aren't in it daily.
